I called this my candy cane hat. Used up wool scraps to make a sm. child hat. It's a made up pattern for my step grandtoddler gal. It's nice and soft. I hope she likes it (or at least wears it). Happy Christmas crafting everyone! Posted by Picasa

This was another quick knit purse (gift) that I was originally going to felt but now I think it looks fine as is. I used Elite classic's Galaxy and a made up pattern. Posted by Picasa

I made this great hat and scarf set for my niece using my free Bernat Disco yarn and white stash yarns. The picture really doesn't do them justice. Self made up patterns. Xmas gifts cont..... Posted by Picasa

Two mini Stockings done!

These were knit for the stocking along! Pattern from Oddball Knitting (I love this new book). And better still I am knitting up some more of my dreaded yarn stash. These are addicting. I knit these 2 in one night. I want to make a wreath and a few more like the pic beside the stockings. I want to make bigger stockings too now that I've conquered the fear of the sock thing! Happy yarn days all!

Blocking my latest Knitted Babes

So easy to knit I can tell you (I knit one whole one up in just a couple of hours watching TV). Easy pattern. I love these dolls! I'm crafting the eyes and lips now and have plans for the hair and clothes. I also have plans on doing even more of these babes! Very addicting. And great quick knit gifts.

I'm pretty excited about getting a stocking going for Christmas. And just when Jack, The Pumpkin King, sort or caught my eye and got me thinking I better start making a few gifts. I am thinking of starting one of those lovely Knitted Babes Dolls...maybe I can put one in a stocking!

Something's up with Jack.... Posted by Picasa

55 More Days 'til Christmas...

Something is up with Jack! Looking at him made me realize I have about 55 days left to concoct some more gifts. I have a large family as does my dh. We are also building a house....let me translate: it's got to be cheaper this year! Hand made is looking really good (the more expensive the yarn the closer the person whom is getting the gift).

I have made up some dishcloths, scarfs, hats, shawls, and other small/quick knits in as many as I can until I am sick of them! I am also using up my stash and finishing up my UFO's in the process. I hope to be UFO free and only have new yarns in my possession by the end of December. I love surfing the web while I knit or crochet to find new fast ideas or different looks. I also love combining yarns and patterns. I am willing to try it as long as I like it or the outcome look it has.

Just some thoughts. I am adding some links to my site, trying to fix it up a bit so....just remember I'm:

Who Knew?

Knitting Goddess
You appear to be a Knitting Goddess.
You are constantly giving and are unconcerned with
reward, you simply want others to love knitting
as much as you do. If someone wants to knit
miles of novelty yarns, you are there for them.
If someone wants to learn short row shaping,
you can help. There are no taboos in knitting,
only opportunities to grow. Everyone should
have friend like you around if they want to
learn to knit, and there's a good chance that
your passion has rubbed off on a few others.

Free Dishcloth pattern

Hi everyone! I am knitting up some dishcloths and never could follow a pattern up exactly....
Here is one I made after not being able to do another and just doing my thing instead:

CO 36 sts. knit across first 3 rows. Now next row is Row 1: a multiple of 5....so * purl 5, knit 5* across (but always knit first 3 sts and last 3 sts for your border). Row 2 is border,* knit 5, k1, p3,k1,* across until border. Row3: is border, *p5, p2, k1, p2,* across until border. Row 4: is border, knit across, border. Next I shift the multiples of five so I will have little triangles on different points.....
row5: border, *k5, p5*across to border. Row6: border, *p5, p1, k3, p1* across to border.
row 7: border, *k5, k2, p1, k2*across to border. Row 8: border, purl across, border.
now just repeat rows 1-8 until desired length and last few rows just knit across and cast off.
Just put in mind its a pattern of five and each side of the triangle decreases by one and it'll become mindless knitting!
Alternatives: I did one with a seed stitch edge/border. also you can put more plain rows in between the triangle rows. And you can add more stitches to make it bigger as well or even use a seven based unit instead of the five based one I did.
